Flag burning has a long history in the U.S. – and legal protections from the Supreme Court
President Trump’s executive order challenges a landmark Supreme Court decision, according to free speech attorneys.
The Supreme Court determined that burning an American flag is a form of “symbolic speech” protected by the First Amendment. This ruling came in the 1989 case Texas v. Johnson, where the Court, in a 5-4 decision, overturned a conviction for flag desecration, finding it a constitutional right. A 1990 follow-up ruling in United States v. Eichman struck down a federal law attempting to ban flag burning.
Therefore TRUMP is the one who has violated the Constitution and should be PROSECUTED, IMPEACHED and removed from office for signing an illegal Executive Order.
