The Bureau of Labor Statistics released even MORE bad news this week after releasing one of the worst jobs reports since Covid just a week ago. The new report shows that inflation is continuing to rise while unemployment benefit applications are also rising. This is a recession by any other name, and this is 100% on Donald Trump and the Republicans. They’ve destroyed what President Biden spent 4 years rebuilding and securing,
Trump said he was going to bring prices down. It shouldn’t surprise anyone to learn he has not reduced the cost living. In fact, costs are going up. Some of them, faster than ever. Food prices in particular have been rising. Egg prices up almost 16%, coffee up about 14%, beef almost 11%. But the list goes on and on. Bananas up, pork up, you name it, prices are up, up, up. And it’s not just food prices, it’s also hardware, automobiles up. And what is driving the cost of living going up, up, up? It won’t surprise you learn that Trump’s dumb tariff wars are responsible for so many of these price increases. Because when Trump places tariffs on other countries, that price increase gets passed on to the consumer.
Health insurance costs are going up. And they’re going up for a couple reasons. Tariffs are also increasing health care costs because health plan has to buy medicines, some of which are made overseas. And so in anticipation of paying more for those medicines, health insurance costs as you go to renew your health insurance plan are going up. But those costs for health insurance are also going dramatically up for another reason. And that is that Trump’s big ugly bill cut off not only hundreds of billions of dollars for Medicaid, but also they cut off tax credits that were using to help pay for your health care. And so the health plans are going to be fewer tax credits. They know that a lot of healthier young people are going to be dropping out of their health plans and that older, less healthy people are going to be staying in and therefore your costs are going up. So health insurance costs are expected to go up by about a whopping 20% thanks to Trump tariffs and thanks to the Republican big ugly bill. Other costs also going up including utility bills. One driver of those increased utility costs is the new energy that is coming on that might compete with existing utilities and and their sources of energy. New sources of energy like wind and solar that account for about 90% of the new energy coming online. Those renewable sources of energy are under attack by the Trump administration. They’re trying to stop wind, they’re trying to stop solar and other renewable energy.
